About Us

Since 1971, Café de Klos has quietly built a cult following from a narrow street just off the Leidseplein. And not by accident.

Our philosophy is simple: good food, no fuss. The menu hasn't changed since day one, and for good reason. From our legendary spare ribs and lamb shoulder fresh off the grill, to hearty soups and the classic baked potato with garlic butter, everything is prepared with love and served with a side of Amsterdam attitude.

We don't do reservations, dress codes, or white tablecloths. Just walk in.

If Café de Klos is full, we have had our own sister bar 't Genootschap der Geneugten since 2014. Here you can wait in a real café atmosphere while enjoying a drink, and we will come to get you as soon as your table is free. Of course, filled glasses can be taken to Café de Klos.

At Café de Klos, we serve, in collaboration with an independent microbrewery, home-brewed beers such as Manke Monnik (triple), De Blonde Barbier (blonde beer) and Witte Antonia (wheat beer), a delicious addition to all our meat dishes.

Across the street, our sister bar 't Genootschap der Geneugten ('t GdG) offers a true Amsterdam brown café experience.

In collaboration with an independent microbrewery, they also serve home-brewed beers here such as Manke Monnik, de Blonde barbier and Witte Antonia, supplemented with rotating seasonal beers on tap and a selection of bottled beer. Additionally, 't Genootschap der Geneugten specializes in jenevers from young to very old. We also have a large selection of fruit jenevers and a well-stocked list of classic cocktails, prepared and served by our enthusiastic team.
